Whether you go for a friend or a member of your family; a baby shower is super popular. With the boom in technology and apps, it is so easy to be bombarded with mum-to-be gift ideas, from unique gifts to the more traditional.
After two babies and given a wide range of gifts from newborn clothes, personalised blankets and toys- all lovely of course. I can’t help but reflect on what would I have actually needed or wanted.
So, I thought, why not make a list (who doesn’t like a list!) of some immediate gifts as well as some for when baby arrives that would help new parents!

#1 Aden + Anais Twinkle muslins (set of 4)
Muslins are a new mothers best friend. You get through so many, that you didn’t think it was even possible. Use to cover baby when nursing, wipe baby dribble, use as a sunshade or even a blanket. I love Aden + Anais’ muslins as they are 100% cotton, super soft and breathable. This 4-pack is my top pick; it is gender neutral and comes with an adorable star print.
A practical idea. Milkymeter™ is the world’s first thermometer for use in the microwave. It flashes a bright green light when the milk is reaching body temperature and the microwave should be stopped. The perfect solution for new parents who will be super nervous about heating milk. Not to mention that it is super quick and easy- who wants to sit the bottle in hot water and wait for the milk to warm up and even then you don’t know if it’s at the right temperature.
#3 Maud N Lil Rattle Bell Non-Slip Socks
If you are looking for something that is unique, then these Maud N Lil rattle socks are just the cutest thing ever! These 100 per cent organic cotton socks are beautifully soft and warm and perfect for any occasion. They are one size fits all from 0-14 months and thanks to the rattle that emits a very sweet sound, they will keep baby entertained. Thanks to the non-slip material underneath the sole, it will help baby during the first steps.
This is definitely one of those items that every new mum would love for baby but wouldn’t necessarily buy herself. And one that would definitely be popped in the keepsake box when baby outgrows them. Available in grey, blue and pink. The socks are beautifully packaged and make a perfect baby shower gift.

#5 Sleepyhead Deluxe Plus Baby Pod
If you are feeling very generous….or maybe looking to buy a group gift, then this has to be at the top of the list. It’s a gift that will grow with baby, in fact for the first 8 months of their lives. The pod is breathable, washable and hypoallergenic. It is lightweight and fully portable, meaning new parents-to-be are comfortable visiting family without the overwhelming worry of taking the hefty moses basket. Personally, both my babies slept so much better in it as they were snug.
#6 Early Learning Centre Star Links
Are you one of those people that likes to buy gifts that can last and grow with baby. Little ones will love exploring these 12 brightly coloured star links. They are brightly coloured with soft rounded edges, perfect for tiny hands. As baby grows, they can begin to link them together; strengthening tiny fingers and develop hand-to-eye coordination. Parents can even encourage their growing baby to count them out and even identify the colours.
#7 Grabease Toddler Cutlery Set
If your looking ahead and want to get something that baby could use once they’re a little older then this cutlery set is the perfect gift. Award winning Grabease is the first ergonomic self feeding cutlery set recommended by Occupational Therapists. The patented choke protection barrier prevents your little one from sticking the cutlery too far into their mouths and gagging.
